Jérôme Cordier

Originally from Belgium, Jérôme now lives in Ottawa (Canada). Over the past 15 years his photographs have been published in numerous magazines, newspapers and exhibits. His work is displayed and available at Carmel Art Gallery in Ottawa.

While his portfolio is diverse, over the years he has documented everyday life in the spirit and tradition of documentary photography. His photographs are uncontrived images of people he encounters. They are a mixture of fascination, amusement, sadness and acceptance of people as they are.

Jérôme believes that more than technique, it is the immediacy in the act of photographing that creates the emotional intensity. To quote Henri Cartier-Bresson “a photograph means putting ones Heart, Head and one’s Eye on the same axis”.

All photographs are archival, selenium toned, silver gelatin fiber based prints. This is a pure negative to positive photography printing process. Each photograph is hand printed by Jérôme in limited editions of ten.
