Jon Wilkinson Exhibition, November 7 - 21, 2009

Jon Wilkinson was born in Hamilton, Ontario, where he received his early art training in the late 1950's. He exhibited his paintings and drawings in Portugal between 1970 and 1975 at the Catavento Gallery of Art, Dom Sanchos Gallery, Sintra Gallery, and at a solo exhibition sponsored by the Canadian Embassy in Lisbon. Following his return to Canada, his works were exhibited in several group and solo shows in Hamilton, London, Brantford, Galt, and New York City.

Jon moved to Newfoundland in 1975 where his works won first prize in the Newfoundland Arts and Letters Competition in 1976 for "Painting" and again in 1977 for "Graphics".

Since 1985 Jon has divided his time between his studio in Hamilton, Ontario, and his home in Pike's Arm, Newfoundland. He has been commissioned to do several editions of serigraphs for major hotels in St. John's, Nfld. Jon presently exhibits in galleries in several Canadian provinces. His work is in collections in Europe, the United States and Canada, including the Canadian Council Art Bank, the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, the Art Gallery of Hamilton, The College of Cape Breton, Grenville College, and Memorial University of Newfoundland. His work is also included in the collections of Dominion Foundries & Steel, Air Canada, Newfoundland Telephone, Imperial Oil, Clarkson, Gordon and Co. Ltd.
